| Originally from Chicago, IL., Tim McMahon moved to san Diego in 1976. He graduated from San Diego State University in 1986 with a Fine Arts degree in Music and was named Outstanding Music Graduate of that year. |

| Since that time, the scope of the percussion world into which Tim has delved has been, and continues to be, quite broad; playing drums with jazz greats such as; Art Farmer, Hank Jones, Charles McPherson, Fred Hersch, Andy Laverne, and Sweets Edison to name just a few. His free-lance work includes stints at The Old Globe Theatre, the San Diego Repertory Theatre, and the Malashock Dance Company. In the classical realm, Tim has performed with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra as well as the San Diego Symphony Pops among others. Tim has studied, and continues to study, with notable drummers and percussionists like David Garabaldi, Jeff Hamilton, Billy Mintz and Michael Spiro, as well as studying piano, composition, and arranging from people like Rick Helzer, Bud Conway and Hal Crook. In addition to his many appearances as a sideman as well as a contributing composer for other folk's recording projects, Tim keeps a very busy schedule performing regularly in San Diego, Los Angeles, and nationwide. He is also dedicated to sharing his musical talents with the next generation with his extensive teaching schedule while at the same time continually honing his own skills. |
